Hello, everybody! How are you all doing? I thought I would do a quick post sharing my collection of Smudge Sticks from Stila Cosmetics. It’s ridiculously large, but I’ll try to keep this post quick! Let’s get started!

I love Stila’s Smudge Sticks because they are super creamy and crazy pigmented. If you are choosing between the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner and the Smudge Sticks, I would say go with the liquid eyeliner if you are looking for a waterproof wing. If you are looking for pigmentation, go with the Smudge Sticks! The colorful liquid eyeliners may require a few swipes to get full opacity, but the Smudge Sticks are intense from the get-go. Of course, the Smudge Sticks don’t stay sharp so it may be difficult to get a crisp wing with this product.
The packaging on these make it easy to tell which ones are matte and which ones are shimmery. As you can see, the shimmery shade on the right has a glittery packaging versus the one on the left, which has a matte packaging.
Here are all the matte shades from left to right! Shades are listed in the picture caption, and swatches are down below!
Matte shades:
- Alpine is a pure white
- Graphite is a concrete gray
- Stingray is a classic, opaque black
- Damsel is a rich black-brown
- Espresso is a neutral light brown
- Sienna is a warm light brown
- Deep burgundy is a blackened burgundy
- Deep fuchsia is a rich, reddish pink
- Violet is a bright lavender
- Cobalt is a bright blue
- Midnight blue is a blackened navy
- Turquoise is a vibrant, greenish blue
- Mint julep is a pastel green
- Canary is a bold, bright yellow
Here are the shimmery shades! Again, shades are also listed in the caption, and swatches are at the end of the post!
Shimmery shades:
- Triggerfish is an intense, glittery silver
- Purple tang is a deep purple with violet shifting glitters
- Tetra is an eggplant purple with pink glitters
- Bluefin is a blackened blue with bright teal glitters
- Ultramarine is a bold blue with blue violet shifting glitters
- Jade is a shimmery forest green
- Moray is a glittery golden olive
- Lionfish is a darker brown with light brown glitters
- Metallic umber is a cool-toned, shimmery brown
- Sepia is a shimmery light brown leaning slightly cool
- Gilded is a shimmery, burnt yellow gold
The swatches in the top row are all mattes, and the bottom row contains all shimmers.
Do you see how gorgeously intense the shimmery shades are? The more colorful shimmery shades would be great for the holidays, don’t you think? The mattes are also great as well. I will say that since these aren’t waterproof or sweat-proof, they do tend to transfer underneath the lash line a bit, especially the darker shades. If you have oily eyelids, I would recommend trying this at home before wearing it out because you may end up with unintentional smoky eye. I have oily eyelids so what I do is instead of using this product like an eyeliner, I use it more as an eyeshadow stick by smudging the liner out (which, now that I type this out, is the intentional use of the product in the first place). The thinner application allows the product to dry down faster. If you are on the drier side, however, you may like these a lot for all sorts of eyeliner use! These Smudge Sticks are super pigmented and glide on like a dream!
There are so many colors to choose from, but if I had to pick my top five, I would choose (in no particular order) triggerfish, ultramarine, gilded, moray, and deep burgundy. Also, the name references to different fish species, such as damsel and purple tang, are so cute! It’s something different, and I really like it!
