Shake Shack Korea

Hello, everybody! A few weeks ago, I went to Shake Shack for the first time with some friends. Let me share with you all what we ate!

I’m not sure if the original Shake Shack also uses pagers but the one in Dongdaemun, South Korea does. There were a lot of customers that night (and presumably every night) that we had to wait for a table. There was also the option to eat at the tables outside with throw blankets available for use, but in Korea’s negative degree weather, we chose to just wait it out.

SmokeShack

Luckily, we didn’t have to wait that long for a table to open up! I got a SmokeShack in a single. It was quite tasty albeit a bit salty. I didn’t realize that some of the burgers don’t come with lettuce, tomato, etc. The option to add those on was on the menu, but the burger was already expensive enough as is. I was slightly disappointed at the small size of the burger compared to the price, but it was still tasty!

Concrete

I also got a concrete, which is basically frozen custard with toppings (except the restaurant ran out of custard so it was replaced with ice cream). I forgot the specific name for this concrete but it was chocolate ice cream with small chocoball toppings and brownie bits.

SmokeShack, fries, and a root beer float

My friend got a SmokeShack along with a root beer float and some fries. I can’t remember if she got regular fries or cheese fries, but honey mustard and ketchup were provided at a condiments booth along with black pepper, utensils, and napkins.

‘Shroom Burger and a concrete

My friend’s roommate got a ‘Shroom Burger, which came with lettuce and tomatoes. She also got a concrete but this one was vanilla ice cream with strawberry jam and a doughnut. To be honest, the doughnut just tasted like dry bread.

I liked the SmokeShack, but I think I prefer In-n-Out burgers over Shake Shack’s. I’m not sure if it’s just the Shake Shacks in Korea, but my meal cost me about double the amount for a meal at In-n-Out. I loved the bacon in the SmokeShack and the sauce was delicious but I don’t think I will be going back to Shake Shack anytime soon just because of how expensive it was. I think it was worth the experience of trying it out since it’s so hyped though! I wonder if the one in New York tastes any different.

Thanks for reading!
