According to my friend, Papa Recipe was created because a young girl’s father wanted to help his daughter have access to gentle skincare. His daughter had extremely sensitive skin and was unable to use any cosmetics sold in stores because of this. Her father was heartbroken by his daughter’s low self-esteem, so he made it his mission to research and create safe and natural products for his daughter. I did a little research to verify the accuracy of this statement, and while I didn’t find anything on the brand’s website, I was able to find the following from Ohlolly’s: “Papa Recipe was founded by a father, Han-Kyun Kim, whose young daughter suffered from congenital fever and severely dry and sensitive skin. The brand’s motto ‘With a drop of Papa’s love’ is reflected in every product that they make — natural and organic ingredients, great for the entire family.”
I did, however, find on the Papa Recipe website that all products are safe for both children and adults. Papa Recipe believes “the answer to good skincare lies in good ingredients” and that “the answer to good products can be found in the ‘field,’ where new experiences and perspective are not found in the office or lab.” The brand also believes that “directly seeing and feeling ingredients everywhere in the world, communicating with local people, and experiencing their culture are the right ways to challenge itself for better products.”
The Bombee Fruitables line contains seven different sheet masks with each mask featuring a different color and function. Each color is in reference to the color of natural ingredients used for each mask. The Orange Squeeze mask claims to re-energize fatigued and saggy skin through orange squeeze complex containing carrot, pumpkin, orange, papaya, and apricot extracts. This mask is said to be beneficial for vitalizing fatigued skin by delivering moisture and creating healthier skin. Carrot extract protects and vitalizes skin, pumpkin extract moisturizes and firms, orange extract improves skin texture and vitality, papaya extract focuses on vitalizing and peeling care, and apricot extract firms and vitalizes skin.
The technology behind the essence is a compressed juice extraction squeeze method that minimizes nutrient loss by applying several types of pressure dispersed in three steps to continuously squeeze at low-speed rotation.
The mask utilizes a “line cell” sheet that is thin, transparent, and durable with minimal stretching. The product description on the website states that “with fine holes and texture, it provides excellent adhesion and transparency.” The line cell technology provides excellent air permeability and moisture retention due to the thin and tightly entangled threads.
Since the packaging is slimmer than most others, the sheet inside is folded differently. The instructions say to take out the sheet, find the overlap (1/3 point), and unfold it upwards. Holding the upper right part of the sheet, unfold it from right to left. Then, unfold both the left and right halves. Attach the mask to cleansed face and remove after 10-20 minutes, lightly patting the remaining essence in.
The essence inside smells of the most delectable freshly squeezed orange juice. It’s super light and doesn’t smell artificial at all. If there’s any con, it would be that it made me crave a cold, tall glass of orange juice the whole time I had it on. As for the sheet, I found the cutout to be quite good. The holes were a good size for my facial features, so I felt like my entire face had good coverage. The essence along with the scent felt gently invigorating, so I agree with the claims and the branding. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I look forward to using this again in the future as I have a couple more in my stash!
