Containing manuka honey, royal jelly, propolis, and ceramide, this mask is supposedly the mask of all nourishing and moisturizing masks.
Bombee translates as “spring rain” from Korean to English. Thought I’d throw in that little tidbit in case you were curious on the meaning of the word.
Papa Recipe’s Bombee line is expansive without a doubt. Even just within the Bombee Honey Mask Pack line, there are eight different varieties. The one I have to share with you all today is the black honey mask pack.
This mask contains Papa Recipe’s unique gold-complex containing golden thread; ginger extract; licorice extract; 1,2-hexandiol; green tea extract; caprylyl glycol; citrus grandis seed extract; and A. gramineus extract. This mask also highlights manuka honey, royal jelly, propolis, and ceramide in its formula. Papa Recipe claims that manuka honey, propolis, and ceramide all work to moisturize and nourish while royal jelly moisturizes and firms. The brand says that “enriched ingredients [and] intensive moisturizing effect makes glowing and moisturizing [sic] skin.”
In addition to moisturizing, nourishing, and firming, the website states that this mask provides water-lighting care and soothing effects. It claims that this product will care for dry and rough skin by hydrating the skin. The brand also states that moisture level rises as the skin is hydrated using this mask. The description even includes a photo showing an increase in over 40% in moisture level.
As I pulled out the mask from the outer packaging, I was surprised at how it wasn’t the typical white color most other sheet masks are as well as how thick the sheet was. Turns out there are actually two layers. Both are made from what seems like a woven cloth material. The layer that actually goes on the face is a softer material, whereas the second layer has a rougher texture similar to the shopping bags from Urban Outfitters given at checkout. The second layer helps with unfolding the sheet mask easily, which is helpful since the essence is quite runny. Another tidbit about this sheet is that it is made of environment friendly tencel and cupra. According to Facetory, Tencel is a newer type of high-quality lyocell fiber naturally derived from trees. It is both biodegradable and eco-friendly. Cupra refers to short fiber leftovers after processing raw cotton. Cupra helps with moisture control and evenly distributing essence. Papa Recipe points out that this sheet material greatly reduces overlap and bunching on the face. I agree with these statements as I noticed how flat and smoothly this sheet mask laid.
The essence has a bit of a black tint to it. I wasn’t sure if this was the essence itself or if it was a result of black dye from the sheet. The Papa Recipe website clears this up by saying it is due to the “peat water ingredient which has black color naturally without artificial coloring.” It has a bit of slip to it when wet but becomes slightly tacky as it absorbs into the skin. Once it becomes fully absorbed, the tackiness is gone, leaving soft skin.
Overall, I was really impressed with this mask. There was a very subtle cooling sensation and a light, sweet honey scent. It has elements of both water and oil, so it left my skin both gently hydrated and moisturized. My skin felt very soft and supple afterwards, and I could feel the nourishment. So happy I found another sheet mask gem! Now, I really want to try out the rest of the Bombee honey line!
