I honestly did not think I would like these as much as I do!
Happy spooky season! For my first blog post of October, I thought it would be appropriate to kick it off with a Halloween theme. OLENS Global is currently featuring its Vampire collection of colored contacts, so we’ll be taking a look at how these appear and wear.
Disclaimer: OLENS Global sent me these lenses to review; however, all opinions are my own.
These lenses are slightly larger than some of the other OLENS contacts I’ve tried out. The graphic diameter is 13.5mm, and the total diameter is 14mm. They have a base curve of 8.6mm.
They are made of HEMA material and have a water content of 38%, so they are very comfortable to wear. The Vampire collection lenses last up to 30 days from first wear, so they can be worn all month long, making these the perfect pair if you have multiple Halloween events to attend. They also come with the option to add prescription from a range of 0.00 to 6.00.
The vampire collection feature’s the brand’s 3con style and comes in two colors: red and silver. What I like about these compared to other Halloween special effect lenses is that they aren’t just a solid red or white color. The striated design paired with the subtle color variety and gradation really make these lenses look more believable in comparison to some other solid, single colored lenses I’ve seen. The thick, dark rims also provide depth and dimension to the eyes. I honestly did not think I would like these as much as I do, but the design quality really changed my opinion of special effect lenses on myself.
Vampire Red is described as “red with an extra bit of super high saturated color.” When I tried on the red color, I was surprised that it did not look harsh. Granted, it was still very much a different look from my norm, but it wasn’t as harsh as I expected red color contact lenses to be. Definitely unique and more so alluring than a creepy red.
Vampire silver is described as an “intensive and high saturated gray color near white and blended with yellow color in the middle that minimizes the artificial feeling.” OLENS also says, “the black edge line with a professional 3D pigmentation creates subtle eyes to stand out at all times.” I was honestly taken aback by how amazing the silver color looked on me, especially how the lighter colors translated on my dark irises. I love how the silver color has a bit of soft yellow to give it some dimension, and I actually think the silver color could be worn outside of special effects makeup and with a normal look. It would definitely stand out and wouldn’t necessarily be the most natural look, but I don’t think it’s too out of the ordinary. I’m really curious to try this out!
While I didn’t think I would care much for these styles since I’m not big into special effects makeup on myself, actually trying on these colored contacts from the OLENS Global Vampire collection changed my mind. I’m floored at the quality and thought that went into the design of this product and how vampire lenses can look so beautiful and alluring instead of scary. I wish we weren’t in a pandemic, so I could wear these and go out with my girlfriends for a fun Halloween night out, which is crazy to say because I’m a homebody. These lenses truly got me feeling some type of way. I highly recommend these lenses if you’re looking to elevate your Halloween costume this year!
If you’re new to OLENS Global, they offer many deals and discounts, including buy-one-get-one-free sales on all monthly contact lenses (including the Vampire collection!), a welcome kit of three free pairs of one-day samples, and free standard shipping over $100 (free three-day express shipping over $150) via DHL to most countries worldwide. I highly recommend taking advantage of the buy-one-get-one-free sale if you’re interested in these lenses since you can get both colors for the price of one.
