Hello, friends! Happy December! I apologize for the little hiatus, but I finally submitted my JET Program application! Things are progressing well, and I’m super excited for the next step! Now that I have some more free time, I’ll be dedicating more to my blog starting with an October and November favorites post.
I’ve enjoyed pretty much the same products throughout both October and November, so instead of posting a late October favorites post, I decided to just combine the two. I’ve been trying to save money lately as my friends and I decided to take a trip to Asia in May of next year. It’s actually been quite difficult with all the great Black Friday sales going on this year, but I’ve been doing my best to not be too excessive with my spending. I am planning on buying some makeup online (hello, Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde palette and Fenty Beauty Diamond Bomb II), but after all the holiday shopping, it’s going to be extreme saving mode until the trip. Anyways, that’s the reason why I haven’t tried out a bunch of new products these past two months, but I hope you enjoy this post regardless because fall makeup is one of my favorite seasonal looks!
I mentioned in the past that fall makeup for me is lipstick. I actually wanted to do a fall lipstick series here on the blog. Unfortunately, I got preoccupied with job applications so it didn’t happen, but here are the lip products I’ve been using often. I love a bold fall lip color, but the issue with dark lipstick is that it can easily fade in the center and leave you looking a little less put together. I like to first apply a lip tint before lipstick so that even when the lipstick layer fades, the tint underneath provides some color in the center. The tint I’ve been using almost every day is the VOV Never Die Tint Ink in the shade RD01. This lip tint is super pigmented, opaque, and long-lasting. I work as a waitress, so I’m constantly talking to customers during my shift, which means my lipstick wears down quite fast. My coworker asked me how I managed to pull off a dark lip without it fading in the center because she said her lipstick always seems to fade. I’m telling you, this one trick does wonders. The key is to use a super pigmented tint. Typically, this means that the consistency is on the thicker, gel-type side and not a watery tint. If you can get your hands on the VOV Never Die Tint Inks, I totally recommend them. They come in four colors, and I bought all four, but the orange shade exploded in my bag after taking it on too many consecutive flights. I guess the air pressure got to it. I’m definitely going to buy it again when I go to Korea in May with my friends.
On top of the VOV Never Die Tint Ink, I’ve been using either the Too Faced Melted Matte in Gingerbread Man or the Rouge Bomb Matt lipstick from WAKEMAKE in shade 16, Corduroy Brown. I actually reach for the WAKEMAKE lipstick more over the Too Faced one just for convenience of application since it’s in a bullet form versus a liquid lipstick.
Moving on from lips, I managed to get my hands on one of Pony’s highlighters from her collection with MAC. I literally checked the website first thing every morning for several weeks just praying for a restock, and I’m so happy to finally have it. I wish I got the full collection, but I only managed to get my hands on the Extra Dimension Skin Finish in Sky’s the Limit and the Fix+ spray. I haven’t used the Fix+ spray yet as I feel like the pink and blue opalescent effect is more of a winter feel than fall, but I’ve been absolutely head over heels for the highlighter. It’s so beautiful that I have mixed feeling every time I used it — I want to use it because it’s just so stunning, but I don’t want to ruin the design and hit pan. I really wish MAC would restock on everything because there were more things I really wanted from that collection, but alas, MAC is notorious for its limited edition products selling out quick with no restock.
Last but not least, I’ve been using the Garnier SkinActive Water Rose Micellar Cleansing Water. Not really sure why it says “water rose” instead of “rose water” on the packaging, but this micellar water has both rose water and glycerin in it. I’ve tried micellar waters in the past, and I enjoyed them, but I didn’t think they were a match for some products such as the Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks, which are some of the hardest liquid lipsticks to remove in my opinion. This one from Garnier, however, removes ABH liquid lipsticks with ease. I bought this thinking it would just be a typical micellar water, but I was super impressed by how well it removed my makeup. I like to use this to remove makeup on my skin and as a quick brush cleanser when I’m in a rush as well. The glycerin doesn’t feel bad, but it does leave a bit of grip on my skin afterwards, so I want to try the original next time. I’m definitely happy I tried this out as I’ve been using it so often. By the way, a little goes a long way with this product, so even though I’ve been using it a lot, there is still so much product left. It’s also quite affordable, so I highly recommend it!
So, not too many products to share this time around, but I hope you still found this to be an enjoyable read regardless! I’ve actually been using other products frequently as well, but I didn’t include them in this post because although I’ve been using them often, they’re not really products I’m head over heels about. The products I shared in this post, however, I’ve not only been using frequently but also been absolutely loving these past two months. Hopefully, you had a fun time reading this and maybe even learned a new makeup trick from me!
Thanks so much for hanging out with me, and until next time,
P.S. I’ll be doing blogmas this year! I’ve always wanted to do this, and this year, I’m going to make sure I’m on top of it! Not all posts will be Christmas themed, but I’ll be posting every day from now until December 25th. Happy reading!
