Hello, friends! I posted a first impressions and review of the Morphe 35M Boss Mood palette a few weeks ago, and I got a lot of great feedback from you all! Someone even shared a positive review of my post on their blog! Thank you all so much for leaving your likes and comments! It really means so much to know you all are enjoying my content. Since I got a lot of positive feedback on that post, I wanted to share another review and swatches post on another Morphe palette, the 35V Stunning Vibes palette. I hope you all find this to be helpful and enjoyable!
In my review of the 35M Boss Mood palette, I mentioned that the reason why I decided to try out that palette was because of the wide color variety. Previously, I stayed away from Morphe palettes because a lot of the colors in a single palette look way too similar to each other. I didn’t really feel the need to own twenty similar browns or twenty similar taupes in a single palette. I would feel overwhelmed and unsure which one to use. I still feel this way about some of their palettes as some of the color stories don’t necessarily call out to me, but I wanted to try out the 35M palette for the unique eyeshadow colors. I actually debated between the 35M and the 35V before I bought the 35M but decided on the 35M because it had a wider color variety than the 35V palette. Although the 35V palette does offer some color variety, I wasn’t sure if I really wanted a palette with two columns of blue, a color I, quite frankly, was afraid would look bad on me. I did want to try out the colors for a sunset orange-blue look, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to buy a whole palette just for the orange and blue. I ended up buying the 35M, which I tried and while I didn’t hate it (I was actually pleasantly surprised!), it certainly wasn’t the best eyeshadow quality I had ever tried. After testing the formula, I still wanted to try out the orange and blue shades but decided it wasn’t a palette I absolutely needed to buy. However, as fate would have it, Ulta held a sale on both the 35M and the 35V for $15 each (originally $25 each). On one hand, I was feeling regretful because I could have saved an extra $5 on my 35M palette (I got it for $20 with a 20% off coupon), but I was also excited that I could get the 35V palette for a really nice discount. I probably wouldn’t have bought the 35V palette if it weren’t for the sale and the positive feedback from you all on my first Morphe review, so thank you Ulta and a huge thanks to all my readers as well!
Now that we’ve got the background out of the way, let’s get into the review!
As I mentioned previously, I don’t think this palette has as wide of a color variety as the 35M, but it still offers a nice selection of different colors to choose from. Although I still think that there are a lot more blues than I probably need, after seeing it in person, it’s clear that all the blues are significantly different from one another.
While 35M beats the 35V in terms of color variety, this palette comes through in pigmentation. The shadows in this palette still feel a bit powdery like the 35M but slightly softer, resulting in more pigmentation in a single swatch. I was so surprised with the pigmentation in comparison to the 35M. I figured they would be the same, but the shadows in the 35V palette had much stronger color payoff. I do have concerns regarding this though as it makes me wonder if the 35M and the 35V are indeed intentionally different or if all Morphe palettes have different pigmentation even within the same palette line. For example, if I bought two of the same Morphe palettes but with different batch codes, would they be the same or would one be of significantly higher or lower quality? I don’t know the answer, but that’s just the thought that came to my head when I first swatched this palette. Anyways, I found the 35M palette’s shadow quality to be acceptable, but the 35V palette’s pigmentation is definitely much nicer than the 35M. A few of the shadows in this palette had similar pigmentation and feel to that of the 35M, but as you can see in the swatches, they were buildable just like the shadows in the 35M palette.
I was actually really impressed with this palette’s color payoff. All in all, I think it’s a great palette with beautiful, cohesive colors that would look absolutely stunning (no pun intended) during summer golden hours and evenings. If it had the same pigmentation as the 35M, I think I wouldn’t really be impressed with it as a chalky blue shadow just does not provide the sultry effect that the color story of this palette boasts. I feel like bold blue shadows especially need to feel rich, and that was really the reason why I didn’t go out and buy this palette immediately after trying out the 35M palette. While the powdery formula was okay and worked for the more muted colors of the 35M palette, a chalky blue shadow would have absolutely ruined the bold, rich vibe (again, no pun intended but wow did Morphe really nail the name of this palette!) of this palette’s color story. Some shades look a bit chalky at first and take a couple layers to build up to full intensity, but they can get there without the end result looking chalky. I had an open mind to Morphe palettes after testing the 35M palette, and now I have even more of a desire to try out their other palettes because of this one. I am afraid it’ll be a bit of a gamble if I order online since now I don’t know if I should expect the more powdery texture of the 35M or the slightly softer, more pigmented quality of the 35V.
I hope you didn’t mind me comparing this palette so much to the 35M Boss Mood palette. It’s simply because that’s the only other Morphe palette I’ve ever tried. I’m aware Morphe gets a lot of scrutiny because it feels like YouTube influencers just want to make a quick buck by promoting their affiliate codes, and I don’t blame you. I felt the exact same way and still do to some extent. I was really skeptical about the quality of Morphe’s products and never wanted to try them until recently. Do I think Morphe has the best quality and formula? Absolutely not, but I also don’t think it’s the worst quality ever. The 35M was acceptable and the 35V was actually quite nice, so my opinion currently is that it depends on the palette, which unfortunately makes it difficult to say how I feel about the brand. However, I think both palettes are really fun to play with, have pretty good quality, and are quite affordable, especially if you manage to snag it at a discount.
Anyways, that pretty much sums up my thoughts on the Morphe 35V Stunning Vibes palette! I was quite impressed with the performance of the eyeshadows, and look forward to trying more Morphe products!
