After the last Mediheal sheet mask, I’m a little worried about trying this out. I guess my skin is already messed up from the last one, though, so might as well give this a go.
If you haven’t checked out my last review on the Mediheal H.P.A Hydrapeel Ampoule Mask REX, feel free to read that one before this post. To summarize, that sheet mask left my skin super rough and bumpy. I feel like a reptile.
This sheet mask highlights xylitylglucoside, anhydroxlitol, xylitol (aquaxyl), niacinamide, and sodium hyaluronate for “skin whitening & conditioning.” It claims to manage rough and dried skin, resulting in skin that is silky and moisturized. It also says it enhances the moisture level of skin, giving it shine and “turns into fair skin type.”
Personally, I think skin whitening isn’t good because it’s a result of racism and colorism and only reinforces it. I think melanin is beautiful, and no one should feel the need to whiten their skin to fit a certain beauty standard. With that said, typically sheet masks that claim to whiten the skin offer more of a brightening effect than a whitening effect, at least in my experience, so I never buy whitening products with the expectation or desire of it whitening my skin. I’ll really only purchase a sheet mask that says “whitening” if it also has some other claims that I’m interested in (with this particular sheet mask, it was the hydrating aspect). I pretty much ignore any whitening claims as I’ve found they don’t actually follow through on those claims (I’m sure not all products that claim to whiten don’t actually work — I’m strictly speaking from my experience and observations on my skin). Anyways, please don’t feel like you need to follow society’s horrible standard of beauty because you are beautiful no matter your skin’s pigment levels.
This sheet mask is super comfortable to wear and almost feels like there’s nothing on the face. It is recommended to lift the sides of the mask up towards the temples for a tightening and lifting effect, and it does just that. There is a moisturizing layer after removing the sheet and patting the essence in, but it fully absorbs into the skin after a few minutes. Once it fully absorbs, the effects of treating rough skin start to appear. There are still some bumps left from the last sheet mask I reviewed, but my skin definitely feels a lot less rough. The treatment continues even after full absorption as I noticed more bumps gone after an hour. This mask also provides a bit of a soft sheen to the face.
I’m so glad I decided to use this mask after testing out the Mediheal H.P.A Hydrapeel Ampoule Mask REX. At least I don’t feel like a lizard anymore!
