Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask vs. Tonymoly Timeless Ferment Snail Lip Treatment

Hi, friends! I apologize for the super late post today. It was actually my friend’s commencement ceremony today, so I’ve been with her and her family all day today. Nevertheless, I wanted to keep my promise of posting every single day this month until Christmas. Since winter for many people living in cold climates brings about dry, chapped lips, I thought I would share two lip treatments I love using to keep my lips moisturized.

As per the title of this post, the two products I will be focusing on are the Tonymoly Timeless Ferment Snail Lip Treatment and the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask.

First, let’s take a look at the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. This product actually comes in multiple different scents (berry, apple lime, vanilla, grapefruit, mint choco (special edition), sweet candy (special edition)). The one I have here is the grapefruit one, which I think smells the best. It’s a clean scent that I don’t get tired of. This product costs more than the Tonymoly lip treatment, but you also get a larger jar. This mask comes with a mini silicone applicator (not pictured) that really does a nice job applying the product to your lips. The applicator also comes with a small clear pouch that makes taking it on the go easy as it keeps stray debris off of it. Laneige also has the Lip Glowy Balm that comes in a squeeze tube and is also a lip moisturizer, but is slightly different to the lip sleeping mask. If you’d like to see a comparison and explanation of these two Laneige lip products, please leave me a comment below stating so so I know that this is something you all would be interested in!

As for the Tonymoly lip treatment, I cannot remember if this came with a spatula applicator or not. I think it did not, but I’m also not 100% certain of this. Anyways, it comes in a thick glass jar with a plastic lid. While the Laneige product has a bit of tint to it, this Tonymoly treatment is clear, but it has a really beautiful iridescent-like shine to it. It reflects the light really nice so it gives off a nice finish to the lips when applied.

Pictured above is the Tonymoly lip treatment on the left and the Laneige lip mask on the right. As you can see, the Laneige lip mask has a bit of tint to it. The color of the product differs for each scent. It is a very light tint though, so don’t expect a lot of color payoff with this. Additionally, the Tonymoly product is more jelly-like versus the Laneige one, which is more of a soft balm. The Tonymoly product took a bit of warming up between the lips to completely melt down the thicker jelly texture while I was in South Korea where dry winters cause temperatures to go way below freezing; however, here in the United States, even though I live in a cold area, it melts down quickly. It shouldn’t be a huge issue for you unless you live in an area with temperatures below freezing. The Laneige one easily melted onto my lips even in freezing Korea though. You can see what I mean in the photo above. Another thing is that the Tonymoly product feels more like a slick gel on the lips, whereas the Laneige lip mask feels like a slippery balm.

Oh! If the “snail” is tripping you up because it sounds gross to you, just remember that snails are creatures that really rely on their secretion to keep their entire body moisturized and protect themselves from drying up. Skincare products with snail utilize that secretion to help skin’s moisture levels. It’s actually really beneficial, and the product doesn’t smell or taste like snails at all! On that note, the Tonymoly lip treatment has a light kitchen lemon scent.

I actually like both products and think they are both worth the price. The Laneige one is definitely a bit pricey, but you get more product with it. The Laneige one feels more luxurious, but in the end, it all just kind of comes down to what you prefer in terms of texture. I do think that the Tonymoly one would make a great topper over lip tint to both moisturize and provide a really nice shine to the lips. Hopefully, what I’ve described above can help you decide which one is best for you!
