Juvia’s Place Afrique Palette Review + Swatches

Hi, friends! Welcome back to another review and swatches post. This time, I’ll be sharing my opinion on the Juvia’s Place Afrique palette. I love the quality of the Masquerade palette from the same brand, but does this palette live up to the brand’s reputation? Let’s find out.

Juvia’s Place is known for their highly pigmented makeup products. Unfortunately, this palette does not live up to that. The mattes in the Afrique palette are extremely chalky and the color payoff isn’t great. The shimmers are better but seem somewhat subdued compared to those in the Masquerade palette. The only exception to this is the shade Kofi, which applies super buttery and metallic. Kofi is the perfect high-shine amber gold shade.

While the colors in this palette pair beautifully together, the quality and pigmentation are simply not there. I had this for approximately two hours on my eyes, and the colors were already creasing and fading with the exception of Kofi, which stayed on just as I applied it. I almost never have issues with eyeshadow creasing, so I was very surprised by this. It’s such a shame because the colors look so beautiful in the pan. To use this palette, I would have to make sure I use a concealer or primer with a strong grip, pack the mattes on, wet the brush when using the shimmers, and then go over with a setting spray to lock the shades in to make sure they don’t crease. I’ll be honest and say I’m very disappointed with this palette. I’m actually thinking of returning it, which sucks because I absolutely love the shade Kofi and the overall color story. Needless to say, I don’t recommend this palette.

Thank you so much for joining me for this review and swatches post! I hope you all found this helpful. Have a wonderful day, and until next time,
