Hi, friends! How have you all been liking my recent Colourpop posts? I hope they’ve been helpful for those of you who are interested in their latest palettes. I actually bought another Colourpop palette through the Ulta website recently, and I’ll be sharing my thoughts on that soon, but in the meantime, I thought I’d switch up brands for a bit and share my opinions on the Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions palette.
First and foremost, I just want to draw some attention to the packaging. I absolutely love it. The matte black packaging gives the palette a sophisticated feel, and the overall symmetry both inside and out provide a sleek look. I mentioned this in my Tips for Traveling with Less Makeup post, but I am a fan of how the size and material make it a great travel palette. A lot of palettes tend to have unnecessary space between the different eyeshadows but not this one. This palette is extremely compact. I also think that the cardboard material is great because it absorbs shock, making the eyeshadows inside less prone to damage. I used to think cardboard packaging looks less sleek than some of its plastic or metal counterparts, but a lot of brands have been stepping it up with the cardboard packaging design. Plus, it’s better for the environment. Additionally, this palette features a mirror, and that’s always a plus.
The eyeshadows in this palette are well-pigmented, and the color scheme is really great. I love how this is labeled as a warm brown palette, but instead of the typical tans and browns you’d find in most brown palettes, there are warm reds, an orange, and rich purples to complement the brown tones, making it more dimensional and versatile. I love that it’s a warm brown palette with multiple twists instead of just different shades of warm brown all leaning towards a single color scheme. I think the concept of this palette’s color scheme is just absolutely brilliant, and I cannot rave enough about it.
One thing that prevents this from being the perfect travel palette, however, is that there isn’t a light shimmer shade, making the overall color story a bit on the darker side. This palette is more suited for smoky, nighttime looks in my opinion. While you can go in with a light hand, the overall effect will be quite sultry. I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing though because that’s what this palette is trying to achieve. This palette isn’t trying to go for the natural, bright, daytime look, so it would be unfair to compare it to other palettes that are.
For those of you who are still considering if you should get this palette or not, I completely recommend it. The colors are so stunning and beautiful, and the packaging is great. Yes, the dimensions of the palette are very small, but that’s because there isn’t wasted space between the pans, not because the pans themselves are small. The Warm Brown Obsessions palette is actually one of my favorite palettes, and I cannot recommend it enough.
I hope this review helped you!
