So you’ve had a full day of flawless makeup. You come home after a long day. Now what? You want to just sprawl out over the bed and sleep, but you know you have to take off your makeup. But do you really want to go through the trouble of going through multiple steps of breaking down the makeup, washing it off, and going back in with a cleanser to wash off the makeup remover? No! The Etude House Real Art No-Wash Cleansing Water claims to be a one-stop makeup remover that not only breaks down makeup but also cleans your skin without leaving any residue. Will our dreams of a quick and easy makeup removal process be fulfilled? Let’s put it to the test!
The Etude House Real Art No-Wash Cleansing Water comes in a pretty large container of 300 ml. I find the art on the bottle quite hilarious. It is a picture of the Mona Lisa asking “where did my eyebrows go?” (get it? because the cleansing water erased them).
The instructions say to simply soak a cotton pad with it and place it on top of the area with the makeup you’d like to remove. Press down gently for five to ten seconds. You can also gently rub the cotton pad over it as well. Wipe off the makeup and you should be left with clean skin!
To test this product, I applied a variety of products on my arm. From top to bottom, the products are as follows:
- OCC Stained Glass Lip Tar
- Urban Decay Cannonball Waterproof Mascara
- Nars Sheer Glow Foundation
- Berrisom Oops! One Day Tattooliner
- Becca Mineral Blush
- Etude House Dear Darling Tint
- Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade
- Tarte 12 Hour Amazonian Clay Blush
Below are pictures of the removal process:
As you can see, with one swipe, most of the foundation and powder blushes were removed; however, there is still a small amount left over. The waterproof makeup such as the mascara, eyeliner, brow pomade, and the tint still remained. With a couple more swipes, I was able to remove more of the makeup, but I ended up scrubbing the rest of it off. It didn’t hurt to scrub, but you can see the red marks it caused on my arm in the last picture.Just a quick note that this product has a strong sweet fragrance, so if you are not into strong scents, this may not be for you. Smells good though!
While the Etude House Real Art No-Wash Cleansing Water was good at removing some of the makeup, it didn’t really perform well in the waterproof makeup category. If you aren’t wearing waterproof makeup, it may be good for a quick cleanse, but other than that, this may not be the one-stop makeup remover we were all hoping for. However, I think this product would be okay to use for a quick pick-me-up to remove sebum and dirt from the face. All in all, I don’t think I would repurchase, but will continue to use for removing swatches and non-waterproof makeup.
