Dal Tokki Facial Scrub Review

Hey guys! It’s me with another review post! This one is about the Dal Tokki Facial Scrub. It is a Korean skincare product that I purchased from Memebox (haul post here). In Korean, “dal tokki (달토끼)” means “moon rabbit.” There is an old Korean folklore about a rabbit that lives on the moon pounding ingredients for rice cake. I think the product and the company’s name “Dal Tokki” goes well together. I’ll explain why in a bit.

I have to give props to whoever came up with this genius packaging. The bottom of the outer packaging has two semicircle cuts while the bottom of the product jar has an open rim that catches the semicircle cuts so that the outer packaging does not fall off. I think it’s such a clever design!

Now, I’ll explain why I think the company name “Dal Tokki” goes well with the product. This product is a facial scrub that claims to provide “mild exfoliation with natural rice” using what the company calls a “rawganic formula.” When I saw this product online, for some reason, I thought that this rice scrub contained steamed rice (you know, the mushy kind). I expected a moisturizing scrub that leaves a supple feeling to the skin so I was skeptical about how well it would work. When I tried it out though, I realized that I was completely wrong. It contains uncooked rice grains crushed to various small sizes. I think the “Dal Tokki” name fits because it contains crushed rice, which is reminiscent of the Korean folklore about the rabbit on the moon that crushes rice for rice cakes.

The scrub gives off a light herbal scent in the jar but is essentially undetectable when applied on the face. As you can see in the picture below, the product is of a thick and porous consistency. The jar contains 90mL of product.

To use, wet the face and apply and adequate amount of product. Then massage and spread the product across the entire face for 30 seconds, avoiding the eyes. Wash off and pat face dry with a towel.

Do you like my Etude House Etti headband?

Here are my final thoughts:
It’s a great facial scrub! While it doesn’t leave me with that super clean (almost drying) feeling, it leaves my skin feeling smooth afterwards. It does what it claims to be – a mild exfoliation. It isn’t a facial scrub cleanser so I can’t really expect that super clean feeling from it to be fair. The crushed rice particles do a good job at removing dead skin cells without being too harsh to the skin. All in all, while it might not be my favorite exfoliating skincare product, it’s definitely one that does what it claims to do and worth checking out!

As per usual, I’ll leave my Memebox affiliate 20% off discount link below in case anyone plans on picking this awesome scrub up!
