Hello, friends! I’m back with another Colourpop review and swatches post! This time, I’ll be sharing my thoughts on the Colourpop Sol Palette. When this palette first came out, I really had no interest whatsoever; the colors just did not excite me all that much. However, after seeing YouTuber Porcelain create three looks using this palette, I was immediately intrigued. I knew I had to get my hands on this palette. Now that I’ve tried it, does this palette exceed my expectations or should I have stuck to my original intuition?
Let’s start with the packaging. It’s the same as the Uh-huh Honey, Orange You Glad, and Baby Got Peach packaging in that it’s made of cheap plastic. However, as I mentioned in those reviews, it’s an inexpensive palette so it’s not a huge problem for me. There were some small scratches on the outer cover of the palette, but the amount was significantly less than the other palettes I reviewed.
One thing I immediately noticed was that this doesn’t have the shade names written underneath each pan unlike the recently launched Colourpop 9-pan palettes. I like that Colourpop decided to update that in their more recent palettes. The Sol palette doesn’t have them written inside the palette but still has the names on the back.
This palette features some bright pinks but also includes deeper, more brown shades that complement them well. You can use this palette for both a striking pink look or use the more brown shades for a copper-tone look that will be beautiful for the upcoming fall season.
Overall, I think this palette is great for both summer and transitional fall. The bright, bold pinks may not be for everyone, but the browns in the palette help balance the look. The quality of these shadows are excellent as they are super buttery and pigmented. If you’re looking for a fun fall palette or looking to venture into colorful eyeshadow, I would recommend trying this one out as it’s bold but still wearable.
What are your thoughts on this palette? As always, I hope you found this to be helpful. Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you all next time!
