OK, I’ll admit it. I still have seen Frozen 2 yet. I know, I know! It’s just that I meant to watch it, but some of my customers at work said they didn’t like the second one as much, so I decided to put it off to the side. I’m probably going to watch it at some point, but I just haven’t got around it. However, I can still appreciate the cute Elsa palette from Colourpop without having seen the second movie. I’ll be honest again and say that I did not care for this palette at first, but it grew on me enough to want it really badly.
The reason I did not care for this palette at first is because there are a lot of cool colors. I didn’t really see myself using these colors because I tend to reach for warmer shades. I don’t really remember what it was that made me suddenly want this palette, but I think it was just how unique the blue was and how pairing it with the dark purple would make it pretty and fun yet more wearable. After I thought of how cute that would look, I just knew I had to get my hands on it.
Starting with the glitter, I thought this was just a shiny, white glitter, but I was surprised that it’s actually a flurry (ha, pun not intended) of turquoise blue, lavender, and gold reflects. It’s very dreamy and reminiscent of a winter wonderland. I love it.
The shimmers in this palette are on the lighter side other than the silver, but I think the soft effect they give is quite nice and fits well with the color story. The silver is the most opaque shimmer in this palette, and although I don’t see myself using it often as I much prefer warmer golds, I think it will be popular among those who like cooler tones. As for the mattes, you can see in the swatches which ones are slightly less pigmented than the rest. The dark purple, however, is super soft and very pigmented. A little bit is all it takes for the dark purple to work.
One thing to note, though, is that because this is a palette that features blue and purples, be careful about blending and placement of the colors. You don’t want to end up looking like you have black-eye.
Even though it’s a palette with cool colors, some of the cool colors, such as the dark purple, have a warm undertone, making it more appealing to me. I didn’t think I would like this palette, but I really do. I think the Anna palette is more versatile for me personally just because it has more natural, warm-toned colors that I typically reach for, but the Elsa palette is definitely a fun palette that I’m glad I got my hands on.
