Hi, friends! I don’t know about you, but when I think of fall makeup, my mind immediately goes to lipstick. With that said, get ready for a lot of lipstick posts this fall season! Kicking off lipstick season, we have Ms. Anastasia Beverly Hills and her fan-favorite liquid lipsticks.
To be honest, I used to absolutely hate ABH liquid lipsticks. I remember back in the day when ABH first came out with liquid lipsticks and Pure Hollywood was all the rage among big name YouTubers. It was such a huge hit that it was sold out for the longest time. I finally managed to buy one online through a re-seller who sold it for a higher price. I applied it to my lips, and I immediately hated it. Both the color and formula were definitely not for me. It was way too cool-toned, ashy, drying, and emphasized literally every line. I only kept it all these years because I paid extra for it and wanted it to work for me as much as everyone kept raving about it. The love for ABH liquid lipsticks from everyone else kept growing over the years, but I could never understand because of my first impression of Pure Hollywood. I never bought another liquid lipstick from the brand until I found one for a discount at T.J. Maxx earlier this year. Let’s just say the rest is history and now I’ve collected nine of them.
The second shade I purchased was Ashton. To bluntly state it, I love Ashton. I don’t know if Anastasia Beverly Hills changed its liquid lipstick formula over the years but the ones I’ve purchased within the last year apply and dry down better than the one I bought when they were first released. The packaging is actually a lot nicer as well since the gold part doesn’t fade off unlike the first release version. These liquid lipsticks have strong staying power so make sure you use a good oil-based makeup remover to take these off. Again, I don’t know if Anastasia Beverly Hills changed its formula, but the new ones I have tried definitely look a lot better.
From left to right, the shades are Malt, Heathers, Bohemian, Kathryn, Dazed, Bittersweet, Ashton, Hudson, and Pure Hollywood. Please note that Pure Hollywood doesn’t look too bad swatched on my arm, but that’s because the inside of my forearm is quite fair compared to the color of my face. My face leans more light-medium. I’ve also included blended out swatches because that’s how I like to apply liquid lipstick. I prefer using my fingers to achieve a blotted and blurred effect. Plus, blending out the swatches allows you to see the undertone of the lipsticks better. My personal favorite shade, Ashton (third from the right), looks brown straight out of the tube but transforms into a warm rose color when blended out.
Anyways, that’s my take on the Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks. My fall lip recommendations are Ashton, Heathers, and Hudson. I hope you enjoyed part one of my autumn lip series! Thanks for reading!
Until next time,
